Cupid's Span (2002), by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, is planted at the foot of San Francisco Bay, at the end of Folsom Street near the Bay Bridge. The 60-foot-tall bow and arrow sculpture is made of steel and reinforced plastic.

Good art challenges the viewer. It can be unusual or mundane, but always stirring, provocative and/or controversial. This unremarkable weapon of love, a gift to San Francisco from The Gap, fails as a work of art. Although created by art icon Oldenburg, it is merely a prettified, soulless, colossal trinket. However, it does go well with the Hearts in San Francisco art program.
